From 2020 to 2023, JoMoni participated in the EU Horizon 2020 MATILDE Research Project.
Serving as a local partner to the University of Eastern Finland, JoMoni collaborated with researchers to investigate the social impact of migration in North Karelia. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the project successfully conducted action research in Lieksa and Kitee and a report was produced based on the findings from the fieldwork: d53-all-actio-research-country-reports-v1.pdf (matilde-migration.eu)
The final conference was held in November 2022 in Villach, Austria, where JoMoni representative, Karl Hancock, attended and presented information about JoMoni during an “Interculturality in Practice” exchange: Challenges, Changes and Chances of Migration: MATILDE International Conference - Matilde Migration (matilde-migration.eu)
