DEVELOPING ACTIVITIES TO SUPPORT RADICALIZATION PREVENTION IN THE THIRD SECTOR IN NORTH KARELIA 2023 PROJECT
The RADIK project was funded by special grants from the Ministry of Justice for the prevention of violent radicalization.
The coordination was carried out in cooperation with Lieksan Somali Family Association / Metka Village Hall
and the Joensuu Region Multicultural Association
Project objectives:
create unified provincial structures for third sector actors to develop activities that support the prevention of radicalization.
to provide preventive activities and information to young people with an immigrant background in Joensuu and Lieksa
intensify cooperation with organizations and other actors
organize training for those working with young people and highlight what radicalization and violent extremism mean as phenomena
The project's activities include:
An electronic survey for those working with young people (n = 60), which surveyed the knowledge of those working in the North Karelia region about radicalization and their assessments of the situation of young people in the region in this regard. Respondents included representatives from the field of organizations, the municipal sector, youth and education services, and social welfare.
Continuous, reflective feedback collection in organized trainings
The project was presented at various events in the North Karelia region and to the Ministry of Justice.
Increasing the knowledge base through training, workshops, webinars and conferences
Collaboration on themes will continue in 2024 with Mieli ry's RE-MAP project
