Theme Year of Security and Preparedness 2025
The Joensuu Region Multicultural Association is committed to promoting shared security and community preparedness in 2025. During the theme year, we will organize events open to everyone and free of charge, where the basics of security and preparedness are presented in plain language and, if possible, in the participants' own languages.
Our goal is especially to support immigrants, international students and employees by providing practical information about preparedness practices in Finnish society. For many immigrants, security-related information is not easily accessible, and through the theme year, we want to strengthen the crisis resilience and sense of security of all residents.
Miksi tämä on tärkeää?
Safety and preparedness are part of everyday life, but not always self-evident for everyone. That is why we want to offer reliable and fact-based training that follows official recommendations and helps everyone act safely in different situations. Information about preparedness in Finnish society can be difficult to access, especially for immigrants, which can cause uncertainty and fear. With clear and accessible communication, we want to correct these information gaps and strengthen the sense of safety of every participant.
Crises and societal disruptions can happen to anyone, but preparing for them is not equally familiar to everyone. Immigrants may be particularly vulnerable in such situations, so we offer training and information sessions that discuss resilience and crisis tolerance. This way, everyone can prepare in advance and act effectively in the event of potential disruptions.
Practices related to preparedness and safety can vary in different cultures, so we also take these differences into account and offer culturally sensitive guidance. We want to help everyone understand and adopt the practices of Finnish society so that everyone can feel safe and part of the community.
At the same time, we want to promote community and prevent loneliness. Joint events and multilingual communication create encounters and strengthen inclusion so that everyone can feel welcome.
The theme year of security and preparedness 2025 invites everyone to learn, discuss and build a safer society together.
