Culture Cafe
Jomoni and Yhteisötalo Satama
Are you looking for a place where you can just hang out, meet new people, and relax? The Culture Café is a welcoming and accessible meeting place for everyone, especially for those of you who have moved to Finland and want to meet new people and find your place in Joensuu. The event is free of charge, and there are no language requirements for participation.
The Culture Café is organized in collaboration with the City of Joensuu on Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Yhteisötalo Satama. Check the latest meeting dates on either the Jomoni or Satama websites.
You can come alone or with others; it’s easy to come here just as you are.
At the Culture Café, we meet people from different backgrounds, chat, laugh, and learn from one another. The goal is to build a community where immigrants and native Finns can meet naturally, make friends, and learn from one another. In this way, we promote two-way integration and strengthen community spirit in Joensuu.
The program is shaped by the wishes of the visitors: there may be, for example, theme days, group activities, discussions, or guest speakers. The Culture Café is free of charge and open to everyone, and the space is accessible. The activities follow the principles of a safer space.
An anti-racism support center also operates in connection with the Culture Café. If you have experienced racism, discrimination, or unfair treatment, you can speak confidentially with a JoMoni counselor—anonymously if you wish.
Come join us—we’re waiting for you here 💛
