Safer North Karelia Project

The Safer North Karelia Project promotes equality and everyday safety in North Karelia by preventing racism, discrimination, and hate speech. The basis of the project is forming an up-to-date picture of racism in the region and its effects on people's sense of safety, participation, and trust in society.

In this project, we're gathering and organizing information on manifestations of racism in North Karelia, utilizing research data, statistics, and the experiences of local entities and residents.

The aim is to highlight the extent of the phenomenon and identify the factors that contribute to the emergence and perpetuation of racism in the region.

The main objective of the project is to draw up concrete, regional proposals for measures to prevent racism and strengthen equality in North Karelia. The proposals for measures are based on the situation assessment formed during the project and the views of various entities.

The project is funded by the Regional Council of North Karelia.
