Accessibility information

Accessibility and arrival information for JoMoni ry's events and group gathering places.
You can always ask the group leader or event organizer for more information about accessibility.
NOTE! We have moved to Torikatu 9 A, second floor. The North Karelia Seta ry, the Support Association for People with Developmental Disabilities (Joensuu) and the North Karelia District of the Finnish Nature Conservation Association operate in the same premises. Our premises comply with the principles of safer space.

Torikatu 9 A

second floor

entrance from the street side

The front door is open until 7 p.m. You can use the buzzer when the door is closed.

The door to the 2nd floor is open when groups gather. There is also a doorbell on the door.

The premises are accessible to wheelchairs or strollers by elevator to the 2nd floor. If you have made an appointment, please let us know if you need a ramp.

Our employees or group leaders will ensure barrier-free access and opening of doors. The ramp to the front door will be set up before the start of the groups if necessary, so please contact us in advance. The width of the front door is 110 cm and the width of the elevator door is 90 cm. The width of the group room door is 106 cm and the threshold height is 2.1 cm.

There is a disabled toilet on the second floor. The width of the toilet door is 82 cm. Both of our toilets are gender neutral.

There are currently no T-loops for hearing aids in the premises. Lighting should be adjusted for the visually impaired if necessary.

We hope that the facilities will be odor-free, so please avoid using scented products (e.g. perfumes, aftershaves, strongly scented hair products and hand lotions).

Unscented/mildly scented detergents are used to clean the office, and hand soaps are also unscented. There are no

plants that cause allergies or have a strong scent.

Only guide and service dogs/animals are welcome in the group spaces. Employees' dogs occasionally visit the office spaces, but they do not have access to the group space.

If you notice symptoms of the flu or stomach illness, we hope you will avoid visiting the premises.

How can we improve accessibility? You can provide feedback on accessibility here.

The adjacent Citymarket parking garage is free in the evenings from 4:00 PM.

Principles of a safer space

JoMoni ry's gatherings follow the principles of a safer space. It is important to us that everyone can feel safe in all our activities. Discussion, debate and points of view contrary to one's own opinions are part of the human spectrum. We can all help ensure that the atmosphere of discussion and the atmosphere of the meeting remain good and respectful of other participants.

  • All forms of discrimination, racism and harassment are strictly prohibited.

  • Respect your own and others' boundaries – physical, mental, and social.

  • Give space.

  • Do not photograph people participating in the event without their permission, even from a computer screen in virtual meetings (the names of participants may appear on the screen during the meeting, do not publish material about them without permission). Ask permission from the people in the photos not only to publish all footage, but also to tag them on social media.

  • No means no. Stop or change your behavior if the other person asks you to.

  • Do not make assumptions about anyone's gender, sexual orientation, ability, or other personal characteristics.

  • It is human to make mistakes. We may unintentionally offend and speak thoughtlessly, e.g. accidentally talking over someone or unintentionally using an offensive word. Point this out in a matter-of-fact and non-accusatory manner. The assumption is that everyone is participating in the discussion in good faith from their own perspective. If you disagree, express it constructively.

  • Every participant is responsible for creating a safer space. If you observe homophobia, transphobia, racism, or other forms of discrimination or harassment, intervene.

  • In a safe space, it is also safe to step into your own discomfort zone from time to time.
